Five-day online value added course on “Developing Competencies in soft skills” was kick started in the department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University. In his inaugural address he emphasized to employ multi-disciplinary approach in the process of teaching and learning. The platform was also shared by Dr. Yogesh Kumar Rawal (Chairman, Department of Zoology), Prof. Sukhbir Kaur (Fellow, Panjab University Senate) and Prof. Sushil K. Kansal (University Institute of Chemical Engg. & Technology, Panjab University).
Prof. Kansal during his talk shared his insights on academic writing skills and ethics in writing & publishing. He also elucidated the importance of databases in annotating the research as well as the tools to refrain from plagiarism and research fraud.
The post-lunch session, included the talk by Ms. Sanjoli Chimni Pande (Founder, Heart and Mind Foundation) on strengthening self-awareness. Ms. Pande trained the participants to tune into their emotions, impulse control, managing and coping stress by being more mindful, using well defined set of skills. More than 140 participants attended the event and get benefitted by the expertise of resource persons.
