PGIMER STATEMENT
PGIMER Chandigarh has been constrained to stop benefits of Ayushman Bharat scheme for beneficiaries from Punjab over pending claims exceeding ₹ 15 crores. However the patients from the state of Punjab can continue to seek treatment at the institute as routine patients by paying the user charges or under other applicable welfare schemes, if so eligible with effect from 1st August 2022.
The decision comes into effect after bringing the matter to the notice of State Health Authority (SHA), Punjab and National Health Authority (NHA), repeatedly on 1st April 2022, 13th May 2022, and 7th June 2022. Later the matter was even brought to the attention of senior officers of Government of Punjab.
PGIMER has patient care as its top priority and extends poor free treatment in deserving cases. It is reiterated that PGIMER will continue to extend quality treatment and patient care to each strata of society.
