It is for the information of general public and Political Parties of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency that Election Commission of India has conveyed the amendments made by the Ministry of Law & Justice in the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and the Representation of the People Act, 1951 vide the Election Laws (Amendment) Act 2021.
The amendments will be implemented from 1st August, 2022. There will be few updations in the forms used for filing enrolment for electoral roll. Further The Election Commission of India will undertake the field testing of new form 6, 6B, 7 & 8, in the production environment before going live. The Field level testing shall start from 20-07-2022 and will be completed by 22-07-2022.The Chandigarh constituency will also conduct this testing of new Forms formulated by ECI.
It is for the information of electors that their Aadhar will be linked with the voter card on voluntarily basis for authentication of voter identity from 1st August 2022. Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade Chief Electoral Officer has urged the public to support the registration officers in the said process.
Special camps will also be organised at cluster level on the dates coinciding with special campaign dates during Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll, where electors will be educate to give their Aadhaar number voluntarily in Form 6B in hard copy.
