Van Mahotsav in the form of MAGIC Mela-2022 is being celebrated with fervour in Chandigarh where Hon’ble Governor Sh.Banwarilal Purohit kick started the plantation festival by establishing Amrut Van on 13th July, 2022.
In this series, the Forest Department, UT Chandigarh organized a Plantation Programme at Kansal Gate of Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary today. Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, Secretary Forests, Chandigarh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and planted a ‘Dhak’ sapling.
The Forest Department has started a special tree planting technique named watering deep root zone on pilot basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh.Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forests, said that the planting technique which has been taken up on pilot basis shall enhance the Water Use Efficiency of the plants. Even liquid nutrients can also be provided to the plants with the help of this technique.
The event was attended by Sh.Arulrajan P., IFS, DCF (Botanical Garden& Nature Reserve), Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, DCF (Wildlife) and other officers of the department and school children.
