On the occasion of Van Mahotsav Day wtree plantation drive was held in the premises of Model Jail, Chandigarh. Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Sh. Deepak Purohit, IPS, Inspector General of Prisons, UT, Chandigarh and Dr. Palika Arora, PCS, Joint IG Prisons, UT Chandigarh planted fruit trees in the premises of Model Jail, Chandigarh. Total 250 fruit trees have been planted in the Jail premises.
​​​The Home Secretary, Chandigarh also took a round of Jail and distributed the Poshan kits in collaboration with Social Welfare Department to pregnant inmates and small children to ensure quality health and nutrition. He inspected the Physiotherapy Room, Library, Stitching Section and Painting Section and appreciated the efforts of Prison Department initiated for the rehabilitation of Jail inmates. The Home Secretary also inspected the Bio Gas Plant and suggested for the expansion of existing Bio Gas Plant. He stated that soon Prison will become under Net Zero Plan by installing another Solar panel in Jail premises.
