Over 661 kg Ganja patti smuggled from Andhra seized in Haryana
Chandigarh, March 22 – The Haryana Police has seized over 661 kg of ganja patti, worth about Rs 1.5 crore, being smuggled from Visakhapatnam, in Palwal district. Two accused were also nabbed in this connection.
Disclosing this here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that a police team after getting credible input about the smuggling of narcotics intercepted a container truck bearing Rajasthan registration number on National Highway No. 19 in Hodal and seized the contraband. The thorough search resulted in the recovery of 22 bags weighing 661 kg 450 grams of ganja patti, which was found to be concealed beneath plastic and other scrap materials in the vehicle.
The arrested accused were identified as driver Jamshed, a resident of Sirohi village, Faridabad, and co-driver Arbaaz of Alampur village, district Faridabad.
Both accused were smuggling the contraband from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh via. Kosi-Palwal to Gurugram.
The spokesperson informed that a case under NDPS Act had been registered against the accused. Police were trying to identify the other members of the racket and further investigation is on.
On March 21, Police had also seized 740 kg of ‘doda post’ from a container truck, destined to Sirsa district.
