International Nurses Day

The inaugural session of International Nurses Day was celebrated on 12.05.2021 from 11.00 AM through virtual mode. The programme started with Saraswati Vandana.
Dr. Sukhpal Kaur Academic incharge, National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), convened the programme. The Chief Nursing Officer Mrs. Jaspal Kaur formally welcomed all the dignitaries. She enumerated that all the three Medical Institutions i.e. PGIMER, GMCH-32, GMSH-16 Chandigarh will be organizing various activities together during the week (12th to 18th May, 2021) like Webinar, Health Education in their respective Hospitals, Laughter Therapy, Experience sharing by the Nurses working with the Covid positive patients.
Dr. Sandhya Ghai former Principal, NINE and President of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) unfolded the theme of International Nurses Day: A Voice to Lead- A Vision for Future Healthcare. She emphasized that Nurses were playing a significant role in this pandemic and asked the group to observe silence for a minute as a tribute to lives lost. She also spoke about the role of nurses as primary healthcare professionals, strengthening online education and practice of Nursing as an art and science. She also emphasized that each individual must take responsibility of their own health.
Dr. Karobi Das Officiating Principal, NINE expressed that Nursing professionals must feel proud of their profession and work with dedication and sincerity.
Mr. Kumar Gaurav Deputy Director Administration PGIMER appreciated the virtual mode of celebration and the role of Nurses in the pandemic.
Prof. A K Gupta Sub-Dean Academics, Medical Superintendent and Head Hospital Administration described Nurses as persons who are very strong, hospitals can not be built without Nurses as they are the nucleus. He felt proud of their efforts during the pandemic.
Prof. G.D. Puri Dean Academics congratulated all the Nurses on the occasion of International Nurses Day and stated that he salutes their contribution as warriors in the war against Covid-19 pandemic and paid tributes to those who lost their lives. He also appreciated the joint preventive efforts taken by PGIMER.
Prof. Jagat Ram Director PGIMER congratulated the Nursing Professionals on the celebration of the International Nurses day. He said that the nurses are empathetic while providing care to the patients. During this challenging period of Covid-19 many of them have lost their lives. We should acknowledge and appreciate their contribution towards healthcare.
Dr. Avinash Rana former lecturer and Secretary TNAI summed up the session by proposing vote of thanks to the all the dignitaries.
The session concluded with the National Anthem.
