Director PGIMER commends nursing officers on International Nurses Day for unwavering commitment & outstanding service in COVID 19 pandemic

“On the International Nurses Day, we heartily commend the unwavering commitment and outstanding service being rendered by our nursing officers in this extremely challenging fight against COVID-19. Following the footsteps of Florence Nightingale, our nursing officers have proved beyond doubt with their extraordinary work that they live the values of compassion and care. The Institute is really proud of them.”
This was stated Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER as Chief Guest while paying obeisance and seeking blessings of Florence Nightingale to win this war against the pandemic. He was speaking at a low-key function as to keep in view the present pandemic situation, ensuring the appropriate covid behaviour, marked to observe the International Nurses Day at PGIMER’s NHE Block, the dedicated COVID Hospital today.
The other dignitaries gracing the function and appreciating the proactive role played by nursing officers included Prof. G D Puri, Dean (Academics) & Head, Deptt. of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Prof. A. K. Gupta, Medical Superintendent & Head, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, DDA, Kumar Abhay, FA, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Addl. Medical Superintendent & In-charge-COVID Hospital, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Addl. Medical Superintendent & Official Spokesperson and Ms Jaspal Kaur, Chief Nursing Officer, PGIMER.
The gathering included the senior faculty, residents, nursing officers, health care workers, from PGIMER who ensured maintaining the social distance while attending the function.
Ms. Uma Jolly, Deputy Nursing Superintendent-Nehru Hpspital Extension, PGIMER, while addressing the gathering, said, “Despite all the challenges at the job due to COVID-19, nothing much has changed for us. The only visible change is wearing PPE Kit and maintaining social distance. But our approach to our patients is same…it’s the same care and compassion. And our spirits are high. I am sure our commitment to the institute and service to our patients will make us sail through this pandemic also.”
Alongside this function, there were other events also organised in various other departments. The celebrations concluded on an optimistic note and rejuvenated song with the song,’Hum honge kamyaab ek din’
