President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja attended the meeting of State Women Congress officials at the State Congress office here today. The meeting was organized by the Executive President of Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress, Sudha Bhardwaj in which around 250 women office bearers from across the state participated.
Kumari Selja expressed happiness and said that it was her good fortune that she too started as Joint Secretary in the National Women’s Congress in the organization. She announced that a big conference will soon be held in the state for women. Apart from this, by organizing special training camps, women will be encouraged to join social media, so that they can spread the voice of the Congress Party with full dedication and hard work. She said that women in the party will be given opportunities according to their talent and good speakers will be given the opportunity as party spokespersons. She said that proper participation will be ensured for women in the main organization.
Kumari Selja said that big leaders of BJP and RSS keep making vulgar and controversial statements against women, which shows their low mentality towards women. She said that women will decide what they should wear, eat and drink, not the BJP or the RSS. She said that these so-called leaders should refrain from making controversial statements on women and respect them.
She said that ever since the BJP government was formed in Haryana, the situation of women in the state has become very pathetic. Strongly condemning the wavering attitude of the BJP government, Kumari Selja said that today law and order in the state has collapsed due to which there has been a huge increase in incidents like rape, gang rape, kidnapping in the state. Today, women in the state are feeling helpless and insecure. She said that due to no concrete policy for women safety, criminals are committing crimes without fear. She said that according to the data of the National Crime Records Bureau, crime in Haryana is increasing rapidly.
She said that the situation of women had become even more pathetic due to the rampant increase in domestic violence cases in the immediate lockdown imposed by the BJP without any preparation and this has also been confirmed by the National Commission for Women. Taking cognizance of this, she had constituted a committee of advocates in every district so that the victimized women could get all possible help and justice.
MLA Renu Bala, Sudha Bhardwaj, Ramkishan Gurjar, Bimla Saroha and other women officials also addressed the meeting. Party leaders requested the Congress President that a Women’s Congress should be formed from the booth level to the state level to promote women empowerment. Everyone congratulated Kumari Selja and said that she is the first woman who has been given the command of the State Congress. The party leaders assured the State Congress President that under the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and its leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi, they will make the general public aware of the policies and programs of the party and will expose the anti-people decisions of the BJP government.
