‘Samajik Karya Sankalan’ – the first ever Book-cum- Newsletter of Centre for Social Work, Panjab University released today.
Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, along with Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India and Davesh Moudgil, Former Mayor Chandigarh, today released the first ever book-cum-newsletter ‘Samajik Karya Sankalan’ brought out by the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University. The book documents various academic and outreach activities besides the innovative ventures and extra-curricular activities undertaken by the Centre in the academic session 2021-22 informed Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, PU.
Prof. Renu Vig, appreciated the efforts of Centre for Social Work in undertaking a number of activities and initiatives which made a significant impact in society. She also mentioned that the efforts made by Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson of documenting the events will motivate the students to further work towards social welfare.
Lauding the efforts of the Chairperson and his team Satya Pal Jain, said that, “It is essential that young academicians lead the way and motivate the students”. The activities had made the students to understand the nature of their discipline from a closer perspective.
Davesh Moudgil said that “this newsletter not only brings together the various social initiatives but also showcases the rich exposure that the CSW has provided to its students through a number of webinars, conferences, placement activities and industry lectures.”
Prof Harsh Nayyar, Director, Research and Promotion Cell, Panjab University also expressed his appreciation for the faculty and students and shared that this should be a regular practice made for all the departments. Prof Monica M Singh alongwith students of the department were also present.
Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work shared that this is the first attempt to bring out a Newsletter for the Centre and will prove to be extremely useful in collation and documentation of all the work done by the Centre in each academic year. It is pertinent to mention here that the newsletter spread over 60 pages has listed over 81 activities undertaken by the Department. From commemorating various significant days, to a list of webinars, industry speakers, awareness drives undertaken by the Department, National Conference organized in collaboration with various partners. It is a collation of all the events took place in the whole year by the Centre for Social Work.
