The Food safety & Standards department of Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh appeal to all the resident / consumers to remain cautious and vigilant while purchasing milk, milk products, bakery products, beverages, dry fruits etc or any food article from market. They should ensure that the food items they purchase are to be purchased from the license shops which observe complete hygiene and use quality products, so that there would be no harm to their health. In case any of the consumers observe / see anything abnormal, they may report the matter as under:

The Food Safety department is also running Mobile Food Testing Lab across the city where people can get things checked at the doorstep and get advice about safe, nutritious and healthy food. The Mobile Food Testing Lab stationed across the city at the following locations from 9:00AM till 1:00PM:

The residents of Chandigarh are appealed to take benefit of this service and get the food articles like milk, edible oil, Paneer, Jaggery, turmeric, Khoa etc checked at a very nominal charges of Rs.20/- per test.

The Food Safety Department UT, Chandigarh, during the year 2021-22, has taken following samples of food Products in UT Chandigarh:

In all the cases where samples have failed, complaints have been lodged and matters has been taken up before the Court/Adjudicating authorities.

The Food Business Operators, the manufacturers / distributors / retailer dealing in the aforesaid food items are also instructed to observe complete hygiene while preparing / dealing in these food articles and to act as per the provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 in letter and spirit to avoid any untoward incident. Prompt and appropriate action under the law would be initiated by the enforcement officers i.e. Food Safety Officers of this office as and when required.
