3-Jan – Observed as Birth anniversary of first female teacher Savitribai Phule –
She was Born in a Dalit family in Pune, Maharashtra, in year 1831 in a small village called Naigaon, located in the Satara district of Maharashtra. She is the first Female teacher of India , She was the first principal of India’s first girls’ school and the founder of the first farmer’s school.
In the year 1848, the first girls’ school in the country was established by Savitribai Phule in Pune, Maharashtra.
Sh G. K Bhatnagar Chairman Sudha Society Foundation – said that Savitribai Phule did not only teach in these schools, but she also provided help for girls not to leave the schools and sudha society is following the same principles via its program Girl Child Education where sponsorship is provided to underprivileged girls . Significantly, Savitribai Phule is also credited for being the first teacher and a social activist who worked towards upliftment of women and girl child education .
