Ministers used fuel worth lakhs during lockdown, did not even meet public – Kumari Selja

Patients were neither provided beds, nor medicines and oxygen, lakhs of people became unemployed

BJP-JJP MLAs also ‘disappeared’ during that period

Chandigarh, 22 September – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that the real face of the so called ‘Good Governance’ of the Haryana Government has come to the fore. In the second wave of corona, when all the markets, factories, government and private offices were closed, there was complete lockdown. Due to unemployment, the common man had become disillusioned. There were no beds for corona patients in hospitals and patients died due to lack of oxygen. No minister or any MLA of the ruling party was available for help. At that time, lakhs of rupees were spent on filling fuel in the vehicles of ministers of the government.
In a statement issued here today, Kumari Selja said that each minister was fulfilling his duty towards the public by using fuel worth lakhs of rupees in their vehicles. What responsibility these ministers were fulfilling by spending government money ruthlessly? She said that it would have been better to meet the general public once during that period to provide some medicine, oxygen cylinders and beds in private-government hospitals. They didn’t meet the public, government offices were closed, there was no procession, then where and why did the ministers’ used fuel worth lakhs? Does any minister have an honest answer to this question, she asked?
All these things are not being said without any proof. The government itself has provided these figures in the information sought through RTI, which have shaken the public and the system.
Kumari Selja said that it was the duty of the ministers to go among the public and know, understand and solve their problems. During that period, not even a single minister was seen around. It is a fact that all the ministers and MLAs of the ruling alliance government were ‘missing’ during that period. When the outbreak of Corona fall down, the people of the ruling party came to the stricken public by forming groups and started boasting in such a way that look, we have driven Corona away, said Kumari Selja.
