PGIMER’s YUVA FOGSI 2020 receives an overwhelming response with over 1000 attendees virtually

Chandigarh : April 3 : YUVA FOGSI 2020 organized by the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology PGIMER Chandigarh under the aegis of Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Society of India (FOGSI) received an overwhelming response with over 1000 participating in it virtually.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Vinod Paul ( Member Niti Aayog, GOI ), and guest of honour was Dr Neena Raina , Senior Advisor maternal, neonatal & child health at WHOSEARO.
Dr Neena Raina emphasized on the conference theme of optimization of perinatal health and appealed to all to continue working towards maternal and child health.
The event was graced by dignitaries including organising chairpersons Dr Vanita Suri (professor and head of obstetrics and gynaecology department, PGIMER Chandigarh) and Dr Umesh Jindal, Dr S C Saha (Organising secretary), officials from FOGSI- Dr Alpesh Gandhi (president), Dr Ragini Aggarwal (vice president), Dr Jaydeep Tank (secretary-general), Dr Nandita Palshetkar(past President FOGSI) and Dr Shantha Kumari ( President elect ).
Dr Suri highlighted the concept of this YUVA conference that it brings together the experienced mentors and young mentees . Combination of experience with the young energetic younger people will help in their skill development.
Dr Alpesh Gandhi gave presidential oration on the periconceptional care and expressed the role of obstetricians for the same and the effect it can make.
Important topics included various obstetrical topics, cervical cancer, gynecological malignancy, fetal screening, still birth & laparoscopic surgery. Fertility preservation due to rising incidence and detection rate of cancers in younger age group also was discussed. .
