Half-centuries from Nehal and Pratham overshadows Nipun’s ton as Rock Zone beat Rose Zone by five wickets
Chandigarh, In response to the magnificent ton by unbeaten Nipun Sharda, half centuries from Nehal Pajni and Pratham Singh helped Rock Zone to beat Rose Zone by five wickets in a league match of UTCA Under 23 ODI Tournament being played at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Monday. . Rock Zone won the toss and invited the opposition team to bat first. Despite a poor start with 71/5, Nipun Sharda held the fort and scored his century. Nipun, who remained unbeaten at 107 runs off 109 balls which was studded with seven boundaries and five sixes. Aman Garg scored 27 runs while Prashant Ahlawat added 23 runs. Somit (4/23) was the most successful bowler by picking four wickets. Skiipper Shahbaz Singh (2/30) dismissed two players.
In reply, Rock Zone kicked with a sensible start followed by a series of fumbles by the middle order batters with 122/4 on the board. A 73-run partnership between opener Nehal Pajni and unbeaten Pratham Singh for the sixth wicket helped the team to surpass the target in 46th over. Nehal scored 73 runs in 73 balls which included eight boundaries and two sixes while Pratham Singh (64 runs off 66 balls) which included four fours and two sixes.
