22nd International Public Health Management Development Program kick started at PGIMER Chandigarh
50 Medical Professionals from Nepal participating in 22nd International Public Health Management Development Program at PGIMER
“Sharing the knowledge with others increases the knowledge of an individual and the community.” remarked Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Former Executive Director, National Health System Resource Centre while inaugurating the 5 Day International Public Health Management Development Program (IPHMDP) organized by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER. While launching the one-week long program, Dr. Sonu Goel, the Program Director and Professor department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, stated “Over 1050 individuals from 85 countries have enhanced their skills through this flagship program of Ministry of External Affairs over the past seven years. This year, medical professionals from Nepal are attending the program to address the specific public health challenges of their country”, he said.
Dr. Arun K Aggarwal, Head of Department of Community medicine and School of Public Health, welcomed the delegates and reaffirmed that this program would help them in promoting effective management and leadership techniques. “Such cooperative learning initiatives aid participating country in developing action plans to address public health challenges of shared interest,” said Prof. Aggarwal.
Later, Dr. Goel, while giving an overview of the program, further briefed the delegates on, how under the able leadership of Shri. Narendra Modi, Hon. Prime Minister of India, Covid 19 pandemic was managed effectively, through effective leadership and how these learnings of program will, in turn, aid in strengthening the health care system of Nepal. He emphasized the importance of group thinking, novice ideas, critical analysis, and problem-solving abilities in addressing a variety of public health issues. During the 5-day program, the delegates shall be showcased the good practices of the institute and smart city concept of Chandigarh which they shall replicate in their respective countries.
