The conference started with a brief introduction and overview of the National Education Policy 2020 by Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh, through an illuminating presentation.
In his address, Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, ADG PIB, emphasized the transformative impact of the National Education Policy 2020 in shaping India’s education landscape. He stated, “the policy has ushered in a new era of innovation, inclusivity, and modernization in the education sector, catering to the diverse needs of our students and educators.”
“One of the most significant benefits of this policy lies in its emphasis on the integration of skills across disciplines. By breaking down the conventional barriers between academic subjects, the NEP 2020 has ushered in an era of multidisciplinary learning, nurturing students’ innate curiosity and fostering a holistic approach to education. This integration empowers our young minds to explore diverse perspectives, think critically, and innovate across domains, preparing them to tackle the complex challenges of tomorrow. One of the significant measures under the NEP 2020 is the establishment of skill hubs across the country. The NEP 2020 aims to ensure that every eligible student has access to higher education, breaking barriers and promoting inclusivity. Another critical aspect of NEP is the addition of 35 million seats in higher education institutions. By expanding the capacity of higher education institutions, the NEP 2020 seeks to accommodate a larger number of students and cater to the increasing demand for quality education”, he added. He also emphasized upon the ambitious target of achieving 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education by 2030.
