Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS Adviser to the Administrator held a review meeting to assess the situation and the damage caused by unprecedented rains in Chandigarh. The Engineering Department and the Municipal Corporation officials gave a detailed status of the ongoing works and the timeline in which the said works will be completed.

8 out of total 16 damaged roads have repaired to make them motorable by The Engineering Department, UT Chandigarh and 8 other damaged roads at different locations are also under repair and will be done within weeks time.

Further the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has also started the repair of damaged roads, cleaning of inlet of road gullies, channels, removal of silt and fallen trees from road The teams have been put on job to complete the repairs in stipulated time. There are 7 major roads which have been damaged due to rains and the MC has started the process for repairing of the same which may take some time due to its tender allotment process.

Due to heavy rains the drinking water supply line have been disrupted in Manimajra. Water Tankers have been deputed to supply water in the affected area and the repair of the damaged pipe lines have already been started by the MC which will be completed within. 3 days. Further 2 out of 6 pipe lines at Kajauli Water Works have been disrupted which will be restored in about a month. drainage pipe line at Kishangarh has also been collapsed and the process for the repair of the same has been started.
The electricity supply has also been restored by the Electricity Department, UT Chandigarh in all the affected areas.
