4th Edition of Conference on New-Age Technologies in Diagnostics Sparks Innovation & Advances in Healthcare Accessibility & Quality
New Delhi, 20 June 2023 – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Regional Committee on Diagnostics and Technology presented the highly anticipated 4th Edition of the Conference on Application of New-Age Technologies in Diagnostics. The conference, held today at the prestigious Eros Hotel in New Delhi, focused on the theme ‘Convergence of Innovation and Technology.’
Esteemed experts and industry leaders gathered at the conference to discuss the vital role of technology in revolutionizing the field of diagnostics and its impact on improving healthcare accessibility and quality. Distinguished speakers provided valuable insights into the transformative potential of new-age technologies in bridging the gap between patients and healthcare services.
Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO, National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), emphasized the significance of technology and frugal innovation in narrowing the disparity between the first and last patients. “Technology and frugal innovation must be used to bridge the gap between first and last patients, as well as ensure that even the last in line get access to quality healthcare,” he said.
Dr Lata Kapoor, Additional Director – Centre for Bacterial Disease and Drug Resistance at the National Centre for Disease Control, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, highlighted the criticality of quality control in diagnostics. She underlined the shared responsibility of both users and manufacturers in maintaining high standards to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic outcomes.
Dr Om Manchanda, Chairman, CII Regional Committee on Diagnostics & Technology and Managing Director, Dr Lal PathLabs Limited, expressed his views on the conference as an opportunity to address pressing issues and drive policy changes. Dr Manchanda acknowledged the macro factors influencing the industry landscape, including increased capital markets interest in healthcare, the spotlight on healthcare due to the COVID pandemic, and notable inorganic activity in the sector. He also emphasized the untapped potential for innovation and technology in the field of medicine.
“In the Diagnostics sector, the focus on the service side of business today has gone up considerably higher. The application of technology in medicine is still waiting to be further disrupted,” added Dr Manchanda.
Mr Arpan Malhotra, Co-Chairman of the CII Regional Committee on Diagnostics & Technology and CFO & Head of Strategy (Labs) at Healthians, discussed the potential of digitalization and automation in achieving personalized and precision medicine.
