On the INTERNATIONAL CLINICAL TRIAL DAY two days online webinar on “Diving into Gray Areas of Clinical Research” was successfully completed by the Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory (EPL), Department of Pharmacology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), from 20th& 21st May, 2023.
The solemn aim of the webinar was envisioned to train residents and junior faculties of the medical institutes in the design, conduct, and management of clinical research in general and clinical trials in particular. Webinar was started with welcome address by Prof. Bikash Medhi and inaugural speech by Dr Shiv Prakash Rathnam (President, IPS) and Prof Kala Kumar (General Secretary, IPS), Dr. B. Dinesh Kumar (Past President, IPS), Dr. Nilima Kshirsagar (Mumbai), Prof. YK Gupta (President AIIMS, Jammu and Bhopal) and Dr. Ajay Prakash (Organizing secretary, associate professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh),
First scientific session of the conference started with excellent key note address given by Prof. Dr. Rajan Mittal Dr. Reddy’s, Hyderabad on “ Historical Aspects & Phases of Clinical Trials” followed by lecture of Dr. Roli Mathur, ICMR, New Delhi, Dr. SD Sinha, HETERO, Hyderabad, Prof. Michael Spedding Secretary General, IUPHAR, Paris, Dr. P. Guruprasad Hyderabad, Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Rao ICMR, New Delhi, Dr. AK Pradhan CDSCO HQ, New Delhi, Dr. Viraj Suvarna Mumbai, Dr. Padma Director NIRT, Chennai, Prof. Narinder Mehra New Delhi,Dr. Ashok D.B Vaidya Mumbai, Dr. Ganesh Mumbai, Dr. Rubina Bose CDSCO HQ, New Delhi, Dr. Sanish Davis Mumbai, Dr. Nilima Kshrisagar Mumbai, Dr. Sucheta Banerjee Director and Dr. Deba Prasad Dhibar PGIMER, CHANDIGARH.
Various topics covered in webinar includes Critical Appraisal of Benefit and Risk in Clinical Trials, Controlled Human Infection Models (CHIM), Decentralized Trials Including E-Consenting and Digital Health Technologies, Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Trial and ethical guidelines, Virtual Clinical Trials/Clinical Trial Simulation, Master Protocol and Adaptive Clinical Trials etc.
After the scientific session, valedictory speech was delivered by Prof. Bikash Medhi. Dr. Ajay Prakash, Organizing Secretary had taken feedback from the participants, the summary of which was presented. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Ajay Prakash.
