Suhani Sharma – tops the National Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan
Suhani Sharma, student of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh secured the first rank in Class Tenth, in the two-day National Camp of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) – India’s Largest Science Talent Search Examination 2022-23 organised by Department of Science and Technology, and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Govt. of India, held on 20th & 21st May 2023 at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram IISER TVM).
The Education Secretary, Ms Purva Garg IAS congratulated Suhani who received a merit certificate, a shield, Rs 25000 cash prize alongwith a year-long Bhaskara fellowship and an internship opportunity, Srijan, with a leading Science research Institution of the country.
Besides, the three national winners called Himalayans, VVM also announced the Zonal winners for the four zones. Ms Purva informed that this national science talent search competition is held every year, for classes 6th to 11th, in three stages. The registration process starts in september and the first stage examination is held online in october- November across the country to select district toppers. In the second stage, a full day State camp is held to announce three State toppers, the top two students are invited for the two-day National Camp, which was held in the prestigious campus of IISER Thrivananthapuram this year. This exam tests the research and experimental skills of students, focuses on creativity, aptitude, knowledge on India’s scientific and cultural heritage while testing the communication skills of the child.
Ten students from Chandigarh had a articipated in the National camp. Besides Suhani, Bhavesh Mahajan, from DPS Chandigarh has bagged the third zonal position for Class VIII.
Earlier both Suhani and Bhavesh had secured the First rank in the State Camp held on 5th Feb, at Punjab University, Chandigarh and the District level competition held in Nov 2022.
