Rains mar the matches at Gully Cricket Tournament as four teams enter in q/f
Chandigarh: Shower spells dominated the 14th day of the Gully Cricket Tournament being organized by UT Cricket Association (UTCA) and Chandigarh Police as only four matches out of the eight were played in pre-quarterfinals matches held at DAV School, Sector 8 and Police Line Ground, Sector 26 on Wednesday.
In the first match, Team No. 90 was bowled out for 53 runs which was chased down by Team No. 98 at the loss of two wickets
In the second match, Team No. 50 scored 24/6 which was achieved by the opposition team No. 20 at the loss of just two wickets.
In the third match, Team No. 53 scored 89/8. The opposition team 82 could only manage 75/6 resulting them a close defeat of 14 runs.
In the last match of the day, 169A scored 103 runs for the loss of eight wickets. In second innings, Team No. 161 scored 21/2 when rain intervened . Team No. 169A won the match by 21 runs with Duckward Lewis method.
UTCA President Sanjay Tandon visited the matches to encourage the players. He invited each one for the match to be played between High Court Chief Justice’s XI and High Court Advocate’s XI at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Thursday evening. Former Test cricketer Kapil Dev will be the chief guest during the match.
