Due to the recent surge in the number of covid 19 cases in the city and as per the instructions of MOHFW under the able guidance of the Advisor to the administrator chandigarh administration and under the supervision of Secretary health a mock drill was carried out at the major Health facilities including GMSH-16, CH -45,22 & Manimajra GMC sec 32 and PGIMER to assess the preparedness of the department regarding COVID 19 .
Dr Suman Singh , Director Health Services , Dr VK Nagpal, Medical Superintendent along with the senior officials of the Health department supervised the mock drill performed at GMSH-16 for a covid positive patient reporting to the hospital . This included the opd assessment, Covid lab testing , COVID reporting , Home Isolation Advice / Admission protocols , Shifting of patients to the ward and ICU , availability of covid related drugs and equipment , working ambulance services etc .
The officials also checked the availability of Oxygen in the hospital and also visited the PSA Oxygen plant , the Manifold room with oxygen cylinders and the Liquid Oxygen plant to have a first hand view .
Similarly a Fire mock drill was also carried by all the above Health facilities to see the working of equipment .
