IMPLEMENTATION OF NEP 2023 WITH ONLINE INAUGURATION OF BALVATIKAS FROM GMHS KISHANGARH

The Department of School Education has added another feather to its cap by virtually inaugurating ‘Bal Vatikas’ in 107 Government schools from GMHS Kishangarh. Seeking the blessings of Honourable Sh Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator UT, Chandigarh as the Chief Guest, the Education Department released specially curated and designed workbooks for the Elementary students. Also present on the occasion were Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh, Dr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Ms. Purva Grag, Secretary Education, Director School Education, Mr HPS Brar and the area councillor, Ms. Suman Devi.

For the successful implementation of NEP 2020, the Department of School Education UT Chandigarh has implemented ECCE (NEP 2020) in all schools of Chandigarh (government and private) with Pre primary 1 and Pre Primary II in the last two sessions. Taking the foundational education forward, with Pre-primary III, “Bal Vatika”(bridge class) is being introduced from the Academic year 2023-24, before the child’s transition to class 1 at the age of 6 years.

For the introduction of the bridge class Balvatika, the schools are required to introduce Pre-primary III for the coming session of 2023-24 for which remodeling of the classrooms, outside corridors and play areas with training of teachers is required. Lot of time and efforts have been put in by the team involved in the implementation and development of end to end learning model of ECCE with 3rd year called as Balvatika. The whole learning space areas being designed by schools covering Corridor, Indoor Classrooms and outside play area. The objective of the learning space is to ensure holistic socio-emotional, communication, creative, sensory, gross motor, physical, linguistic and analytical skills development of a child in the age bracket of 3-6 years.

These remodeled spaces offer excellent learning experience to the students. For the very first time the inauguration of all the Bal Vatikas in Government Schools was done with a single click, clearly showing how Digitalization has become an integral part of our system. Along with inauguration of infrastructure the literature to fill learning gaps was also launched today. This literature included worksheets for students wherein they get hands-on experience.

Mr. Anup Gupta, Mayor welcomed the chief guest and shared his pride in being a part of this event which showcased the world class infrastructure. He asked for more and more private and public collaboration.

Honorable Governor lauded the impressive infrastructure and directed the Department that it should be maintained in the same pristine condition always. He asked all the stakeholders of the society to give their inputs, and motivated them to work like a team for the progress of Government machinery. He stressed on keeping the focus on hardwork as there is no substitute to it. He also lauded the arrangements made for the grooming of tiny tots,the introduction of pottery classes to students was highly appreciated by him. He explained that activities like these give a platform for experiential learning to students and it revolves around the skill acquisition which is the main focus of the NEP 2020.

The Administrator, shared his appreciation of the efforts of teachers of Chandigarh Government schools whose sole focus remains the character building of its students. He admired the intellect and hardwork of the meritorious teachers of Chandigarh. On sharing his vision for the society, he again stressed on coming together to build India a ‘Vishwa Guru’

In his closing statement he reminded one and all how Implementation of NEP 2020 is the main aim of the Chandigarh Administration and directed that all Secretaries of the Department must visit and inspect the schools. The Administrator reiterated the commitment that all children in Chandigarh deserve to be in school and the Administration will ensure that not a single child is left behind. He was appreciative of the efforts of the Department in working tirelessly towards achieving this. The Honorable Governor reminded all of his vision of setting up ten new schools with world class infrastructure.

Lauding the efforts of the Chandigarh Education Department, for being the first region in the country to initiate the implementation of NEP 2020, he also envisioned it to be the first fully NEP 2020 compliant region of the country.
