11th (North zone) “CME on Pharmacovigilance / Materiovigilance and Coordinators Meeting *successfully concluded

11th North zone “CME* 2023 on Pharmacovigilance/Materiovigilance and coordinators meeting was organized by Department of Pharmacology, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh India under the aegis of Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) on 20thMarch 2023. The main objective to conduct this programme was to update the knowledge of faculties, patient safety pharmacovigilance associates, health care professionals and improve their technical skills for their competent contribution towards Pharmacovigilance and Matriovigilance Program of India (PvPI&MvPI).

This training program was full of knowledge on advances in pharmacovigilance, Adverse drug reactions (ADRs), Current update of PvPI and MvPI program etc. The program also emphasized the role of patients, care givers, and health care professionals towards the reporting of ADRs. More than 400 delegates from prestigious institutes of India attended the conference via both online and offline mode.
The meeting was started with welcome address by Prof. Bikash Medhi. Official inauguration of the conference was done in the presence of chief guest Prof. Dulal Panda (Director, NIPER Mohali), guest of honor Dr. Y.K. Gupta (Former Dean, AIMS, New Delhi), and Prof. Rakesh Sehgal (Dean-Academics, PGIMER, Chandigarh)and other dignitaries in the field.

First scientific lecture of the meetingwas started with excellent key note address given by Prof Jai Praksh (IPC, Ghaziabad, Uttarpradesh) on current updates on Pharmacovigilance program of India followed by lecture of Dr. V. Kalaiselvan ((IPC, Ghaziabad), Dr. Rubina Bose (CDSCO, New Delhi), Dr Padma (Mumbai), Dr. Nitin Peters (PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Vivek Ahuja (Sun Pharmaceuticals Mumbai), Dr. Mahesh Devnani (PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Dipika Bansal (NIPER Mohali) and Dr. Rishi Jain (Mumbai).

Session included lecture on current updates on Pharmacovigilance program of India, on current updates on Materiovigilancd program of India, practical regulatory implementation of the signals generated from PvPI and MvPI with practical utility, clinical inputs in Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance, artificial intelligence in Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance etc.
After the lectures question answer session was conducted. At the end, Prof Bikash Medhi, Organizing Chairman had taken feedback from the participants the summary of which was presented. The meeting was ended with vote of thanks by Dr Ajay Prakash.
