Prof. Baldev Setia, Director, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Prof. Nisha Bhargava, Principal, MCM DAV College for Women, chandigarh along with Prof. B S Pabla, Director Incharge of NITTTR Chandigarh  flagged off the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB)” Yuva Sangam tour of the Chandigarh students’ team to Silchar (Assam) on Thursday 23rd February 2023 at 3:30 pm at NITTTR Chandigarh.

Ministry of Education, Government of India, has conceptualized an initiative of ‘Yuva Sangam’ under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) to strengthen people-to-people connect and build empathy between youth of the North Eastern States and other States of our country. This program is  being organized in collaboration with various other ministries and departments such as Culture, Tourism, Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs & Sports, Home Affairs, Department for Development of North-East Region (DoNER) and IRCTC. The program is fully funded by Government of India  towards travel by flight, train and Bus, free boarding and lodging  and there is no expenditure on the part of visiting students. It is an excellent initiative taken by Government of  India under the visionary leadership of Shri. Narendra Modi ji.

The program puts emphasis on conducting exposure tours of the youths comprising mainly of students studying in Higher Educational institutions & some off-campus youngsters from North Eastern States to other states & vice versa. As a pilot initiative, 11 Higher Education Institutions from North Eastern States and 14 institutions from rest of the country have been paired. The youth will get an immersive experience of various facets of life and multi-dimensional exposure under five broad areas – Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Prodyogik (Technology) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect). The program will celebrate India`s diversity, rejuvenate the spirit of oneness and highlight the strength of India`s democracy as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji.

A total of Forty Five(45) students from various Institutions in Chandigarh and nearby places and  four (04) faculty members,  who will accompany the students, are travelling to Silchar (Assam) as a first batch on 23rd February 2023 and will tour in the state of Assam from 23 February to 1 March 2023. NITTTR Chandigarh is coordinating the program in association with  NIT Silchar. These students represent a diverse team belonging to rural & urban areas, comprising of almost same ratio of male and female, from educational domains of arts, science and technology, and studying at different higher educational institutions such as Panjab University, Chandigarh; NITTTR, Chandigarh; Chitkara University, Punjab;   MCM DAV College, Chandigarh and several other colleges. The flight, bus/train travel, food and accommodation expenses for the students are sponsored by Ministry of Education and are arranged by the IRCTC, Govt. of India. AICTE, New Delhi is coordinating the entire event under the supervision of Ministry of Education, Govt. Of India.

It’s a youth exchange program where 21 students from NIT Silchar with 3 faculties will also be visiting Chandigarh on 27th of February 2023 and will tour in Chandigarh and nearby places from 27th of February to 4th  of March 2023.

Addressing the students, Prof. Baldev Setia emphasized the importance of youth exchange programmes in sharing culture and life styles of each other which will unite students inspite of the diversity of various states and prove that each youth is an Indian.  He also stated that the EBSB Yuva Sangam Program is a great initiative of our prime minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Prof. S S Pattnaik, Director of the Institute gave a message to the students that they are the youth ambassadors who are carrying the culture, traditions, goodwill and unique values of the city beautiful. Prof. Nisha Bhargava, Principal of MCM DAV College, Chandigarh expressed her best wishes to the students and appreciated the effort of MoE to organize such youth exchange programme. Prof. B S Pabla of NITTTR Chandigarh also expressed his best wishes and emphasized that such trips will bring students from different culture together.
