A meeting was held on 13.02.2023 at under the Chairmanship of Shri Dharampal, Adviser to the Administrator regarding collaboration between Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Mullanpur (A unit of TATA Memorial Centre, Mumbai on development of oncology care network in Chandigarh.
After detailed deliberations, it was decided that following may be taken up by the Tata Memorial Centre in Association with the UT Administration:-
(1) Comprehensive Cancer screening, early detection & treatment plan for rural areas of Chandigarh especially in the 23 erstwhile villages to treat any individual who is detected to have this dreaded disease during such screening camps.
(2) Cancer screening & early detection services to all the employees of the Union Territory of Chandigarh
(3) Special Cancer awareness and screening program for the police personnel, traffic force, the employees of Municipal Corporation and other employees working in the UT of Chandigarh.
(4) Cancer awareness programs in the Schools, Colleges and Universities in Chandigarh in order to educate young minds about the early symptoms of this disease so that we afre able to nip the evil in the bud and achieve maximum cure rates.
(5) To have collaboration between Hospital/Medical College of UT Administration and the Tata Memorial Centre to mutually train the young students/Post Graduate from these Hospital/Medical Colleges/Centre.
(6) Oncology-based training of medical staff of Chandigarh Administration
