Neurology, Department, PGIMER organized Awareness lectures On world Parkinson’s Day

A patient awareness on program on Parkinson’s disease was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Vivek Lal by the Department of Neurology, PGIMER Chandigarh, on 11 April 2025, which is celebrated as World Parkinson’s Day. Sixty participants participated in the event, including patients, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Dr Sahil Mehta, an additional professor in the department and a movement disorder expert, organised the session to cover all the aspects of treating this neurodegenerative disorder. Dr Abeer Goel, Assistant Professor and Dr Ashish Aggarwal, Additional Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery, gave interactive and patient-oriented lectures on the Medical and Surgical Management of Parkinson’s disease. A few patients who had undergone Deep brain stimulation surgery at PGIMER shared their experiences and created awareness about this important therapy. A practical demonstration of yoga, physical therapy and cognitive exercises was also carried out in a patient-friendly manner by Mr Shiv, Mr Jagdeep, Ms Mandeep and Ms Rupali. The program was successful, and active participation was given by the patients and the caregivers.
