7th National workshop on Health Systems strengthening

Day 3 of 7th National workshop on Health Systems strengthening at Department of Community Medicine and School of Public, PGIMER started with the reflections from the previous day’s sessions of the workshop. The next session has taken by Prof.T. Sundararaman on Human resource management in which he deliberated on what can done to improve patient safety and quality at primary health care level.He iterated on assuring excellent care in terms of effectiveness, timeliness, patient safety, dignity, satisfaction, and comfort, as well as a systems approach that involves assuring employee contentment and willingness to work. This was followed by the sessions from the team from NHSRC,New Delhi. Dr.Himanshu Bhushan, advisor Public Health, NHSRC discussed new additions to the Indian Public Health Standards ( IPHS) 2022, such as ideal space requirements for safe delivery, infrastructure planning, availability of general duty medical officers, equipment and record keeping, critical care units, and defining the performance parameters. Dr. Poonam talked about the role of public health management cadre in augmenting human resources. She shared insights on task shifting & sharing and stressed the need to augment teaching institutions. Mr. Prasanth discussed about improving governance in the public health system to achieve desired goals and targets.
Dr.Sanjeev Upadhyay public health specialist, discussed about the ways to strengthen health systems to improve child care at district and subdistrict level while Dr. Sunita Upadhyay was invited as guest speaker from Centre of Disease Control, who deliberated on building resilient laboratory system to strengthen surveillance and focusing on access to essential diagnostics that has received little attention in the country. Prof. Lalit Sankhe shared his experiences on how to rollout MIYCN interventions in public and private institutions and discussed the prerequisites on setting up adult immunization clinics. The day ended with the sharing of experiences of the participants.
