Health Assessment Camp under AMRIT Campaign
(“AMRIT- Acute Malnutrition Removal Through Integrated Technique”)
A Health Assessment Camp was organized today at Construction site Dhanas in convergence with Department of Health under the AMRIT Campaign.
Total 56 beneficiaries were monitored. Two children in the age group of 3-6 year were found Moderately Malnourished and Diet Counselling and Medical prescriptions were provided to the parents. Beside, 44 Children, 03 Pregnant Women, 05 Nursing Mother and 02 Adolescent Girls were also assessed medically.
AMRIT campaign- “Acute Malnutrition Removal Through Integrated Technique” was launched by Adviser to the Administrator Chandigarh on 1st Oct, 2020 with the aim of making Chandigarh Kuposhan Mukt by Early Identification and tracking of Severely Acute Malnutrition (SAM) Children, Early initiation of treatment and minimizing the risk of complications in later stage.
For the management of identified SAM & MAM children, the trainings/orientation workshops have been organized for all Medical Officers, CDPOs, Lady Supervisors and POSHAN Team on regular intervals in convergence with Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre sector 16, Chandigarh and PGIMER, Chandigarh. Field functionaries are monitoring the Health Status (Height & Weight Measurement) by organizing Vajan Diwas/Urban Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day under the supervision of Child Development Project Officers and Medical Officers on monthly basis at Anganwadi Centres. For referrals and proper checkups, 01 Mobile Anganwadi Van is being used to bring SAM Children along with their parents to NRC Center on regular intervals.
Under Supplementary Nutrition Programme, double diet i.e. 20.01 gram protein and 806.75 calories are provided to SAM Children every day. Ready to eat Take Home Ration i.e. Roasted Channa, Roasted Millet, Roasted Black wheat dalia, Gur and MURMURA MIXTURE is being provided to SAM Children in the age group of 01 to 03 years. Hot Cooked Meal i.e. Murmura Mixture, Karhi Rice, Halwa, Aaloo Nutri with Gravy, Moong Dal & Rice, Sweet Black Wheat Dalia, Ghiya Chana Dal, and Rice is being provided to SAM Children in age group of 03 to 06 years according to the menu prepared as per the guidelines of MoWCD, Govt. of India.
With the rigorous efforts of field functionaries total 254 Severely Acute Malnourished Children identified & managed under the campaign and during last 6 months 72 Severely Acute Malnourished children have improved to normal category. At present 84 SAM children are enrolled in all the 450 Anganwadi Centres and they are closely monitored by the field functionaries under AMRIT Campaign and this is an ongoing process. Anganwadi Workers are ensuring regular monitoring follow up visits of malnourished children.
