Government Museum & Art Gallery, Chandigarh celebrates International Museum Day
​​On the occasion of International Museum Day on 18th May, 2022, the Govt. Museum & Art Gallery, Chandigarh is organizing a week long celebrations till 20th May in a befitting manner. The following activities have been planned during the week.

​​The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh inaugurated a serigraphy print exhibition “Lockdown Diaries” on 6th May, its Foundation Day. The exhibition has works of 80 well known artists like Dattatraya Apte, Anand Moy Banerji, Anita Dube and many more. The exhibition will continue till the culmination of International Museum Week, i.e., 20th May, 2022.
​​The Department has also designed interactive worksheets and activities on the Museum collection such as “Decoding Mudras”, “Hair and There”, “Scavenger Hunt”, “Riddles and Puzzles” for the children and general visitors. To ensure that language does not become a barrier, puzzles and riddles have been drafted in three languages, Hindi Punjabi and English.
​​The Department is also organizing documentary shows on “Jurassic and Triassic Period” in collaboration with American Association of Petroleum Geology, Students Chapter, Department of Geology, Panjab University during the week.
​​A painting session on the topic “Me and My Dolls” has been organized for children in International Dolls Museum.
​​A workshop on preventive conservation titled “How to preserve what you value at Home” is planned for 19th May, 2022.
​​All museums will remain open for an extended hour and will close at 6 pm till 20th May, 2022.
​​Some of schools which participated on 17th May and 18th May were Brilliance World School, Panchkula, Government College, Phase 6, Mohali and SD Senior Secondary School, Sector 24C, Gurukul School, Mohali, Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 18 and Graduate/Post Graduate students of the Department of Geology, Panjab University.
