Health Department, Chandigarh organized Health Mela to celebrate the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and 4th Anniversary of HWC’s in Gobind Pura, Community Centre, Manimajra.
Health Mela was inaugurated by Shri Banwarilal Purohit Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh , Sh Dharampal Adviser to Administrator , the Guest of Honour in the presence of Secretary Health Sh. Yashpal Garg and Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director – National Health Mission.
During the Health Mela more than 500 citizens utilized the services. Health mela provided the screening for Non Communicable Diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Cancer, General Medicine, Maternal and Child Health . Doctors also provided consultation for ENT, Eye, Skin , Tuberculosis , Nutrition, Leprosy . IEC stalls for Iodine deficiency , AYUSH, Oral Health, Malaria, Immunization, Mental illness , counselling for HIV/AIDS, Tobacco Cessation along with free drugs and free lab test.
Services of Teleconsultation through eSanjeevani OPD, generation of health IDs of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, eCards of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana were also provided to general public.
The Departments of Social Welfare, Education, Women and Child Development, Poshan Abhiyaan, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Song and Drama Division, Sports Department, Department of Cultural Affairs, DAVP etc also participated in the mela to spread awareness for health related topics.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements. The melas are being organised in the series of celebration of 4th Anniversary of Health & Wellness Centres and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The “Health & Wellness Centre” is a key component of the Ayushmaan Bharat, under which existing Civil Dispensaries have been transformed into Ayushmaan Bharat-Health & Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs) to deliver an expanded range of diagnostic and clinical services for Comprehensive Primary Health Care.Next Health Melas will be held on 20.04.2022 and on 22.04.2022 at Sector-45 and Sector-22 Hospitals with same facilities.
