A web Panel Discussion was organised by the Department of History, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Various speakers from accross fields, ranging from Law, Literature and politics shared their opinions. Dr.Priyatosh Sharma, Chairperson welcomed  all the speakers and participants. He initiated the session by highlighting the endeavors of Department to connect academics with ground level realities.

Prof Rajiv Lochan gave inaugural speech and said that there is need to connect history not simply as dead past but a living past in present at more vibrant level.

Principal Vinay Sharma talked about his experience in Guru Ravidas deras which have adopted certain villages to ensure education among all children. He also highlighted how Guru Ravidas teachings acted both as revolutionary and harmony as per the situation demands.

 Advocate Devinder Singh  talked how indian constitution makers were aware about Indian philosophic traditions  and imbibed in indian vision of a welfare state. He elaborated how Begampura envisaged every ideal of fundemental rights and duties in one composition.

Mrs Sweety Tomar submitted how still one sees discrimination on the ground and how Guru Ravidas ji teachings still needs to be expanded on the wider canvas. Guru Ravidas ji teachings can harmonise the conflicts and needs to incorporated in syllabus and academics.

Sh. Sandeep Sikri, Fellow Panjab University, talked about how Guru Ravidas talked about action and not merely rituals. He said that how  being humble one can achieve height and sainthood.

This  Panel Discussion was attended by teachers accross Punjab , Haryana and Chandigarh.

Dr.Ashish Kumar offered the vote of thanks to all the panelists and participants.
