Union Budget crushed hopes of countrymen – Kumari Selja
Haryana is also ignored in this budget
People expecting relief have been disappointed
Chandigarh, February 1 – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja has described the Union Budget as anti-people which has crushed the hopes of the countrymen. Kumari Selja said that Haryana has also been neglected in this budget. She said that today unemployment is at its peak, inflation is increasing continuously and the economy has collapsed. Amidst the failed policies of the government and the situation arising during the Corona period, people expected that they would get big relief from this budget, but today this budget has disappointed the countrymen and ruined their hopes.
In a statement issued here, Kumari Selja said that from time to time the BJP government keeps proving that their policies are not for the general public, poor, farmers and the youth. As soon as the Union Budget is presented, the first attack was made on the working class and middle class. When the whole country was expecting a cut in income tax slab, the government crushed their hopes.
Expressing grief over neglecting Haryana in the Union Budget, Kumari Selja said that the expectations of the people of Haryana have also been dashed with this budget. Along with the central government, the BJP-JJP government of Haryana was also responsible for this. The state of Haryana has been grossly neglected in the budget, she added.
Kumari Selja said that this government has been speaking of doubling the income of farmers for many years, but the condition of the farmers is worsening. Yet there is nothing in this budget for the farmers. This budget is completely anti-farmer. The poor section of the country has also not got anything from this budget and they have been ignored in this budget.
Kumari Selja said that this budget is not for the benefit of the general public in any sense. The budget presented for the financial year 2022-23 has also hit the poor by cutting subsidies. Food subsidy was Rs 2.86 lakh crore in the financial year 2021-22 which has been reduced to ₹2.06 lakh crore in the financial year 2022-23. The subsidy on fertilizers to farmers has been reduced from Rs 1.40 lakh crore to Rs 1.05 lakh crore, whereas the budget of MGNREGA has been reduced from Rs 98,000 crore to Rs 73,000 crore. The government has also reduced the budget for Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops. Last year the budget for MSP was Rs 2.48 lakh crore which has been reduced significantly by Rs 11000 crore to Rs 2.37 lakh crore this year. Apart from this, the budget also has nothing much for health services during this ongoing pandemic period.
She added that the BJP government, which makes tall claims and promises, has done nothing for the common people. The country is yet to emerge from the huge losses caused by the pandemic. In such a situation, the government should have taken steps for the good of the people, but the farmers, poor, laborers, youth have got only betrayal from this government. This government promised to provide jobs to 2 crore youth, but made it a jumla. Now, this government has created a new hype of providing 60 lakh jobs in the budget. This government has been promising employment since the beginning, but in reality nothing has come to the hands of the youth except helplessness, said Kumari Selja.
