Promoting women’s safety, Haryana Police’s women cyclists cover 917 Kms amidst adverse weather conditions

Chandigarh, Dec 7: In spite of adverse weather conditions, a team of 16 police women cyclists of Haryana Police while covering a distance of 917 Kms in the first three-weeks after the launch of ‘Jagriti Yatra’, has been successful in spreading awareness about the safety of women and providing them a safe environment.

Sharing the details, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that through various social awareness events organised under this expedition, the cyclists team also educated more than 3500 women and girls about their rights and safety tips through awareness events organised across 18 districts including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Rewari, Narnaul, Bhiwani, Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad.

The participating team of Police Women Cyclists were also welcomed by the women and girls who attended its social awareness events organised across these districts. Through these events, the Police cyclists also sensitized them about crime against women prevention, and roles of different agencies in eradicating the cases by booking culprits.

The ‘Jagriti Yatra’ will cover the remaining 5 Police districts of Haryana in the coming week, followed by its culmination on 10th December 2021 with a closing ceremony to be conducted at Police Headquarters.

The cycle rally with the theme of ‘Jaagruk Nari-Shakti Hamari’, was flagged off by DGP Haryana, Sh. P.K. Agrawal on 15 November from Panchkula. With such kind of events, more and more awareness regarding women safety and empowerment could be spread, he added.
