POSHAN Abhiyaan is a visionary programme to address and rectify the nutritional challenges in the country. The primary aim of this mission is to enable awareness on the importance of nutrition and provide immediate help to the malnourished children of the country. POSHAN Maah 2021 is being celebrated in Chandigarh considering the importance of nutrition during various stages of life cycle.
A YOGA session was performed by the Anganwadi Workers at Daria at 10.30 AM, to convey the message of building strength, awareness and harmony in both mind and body. The beneficiaries were made aware of the power poses important for improving immunity in the body and the nutritious diet to take along with a proper yoga routine.
The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is the symbol of education, wisdom, good fortune and prosperity. To symbolize the importance of nutrition, it was celebrated at Maloya with a large number of beneficiaries. A recipe Competition was also organised where awareness regarding Nutritious Food, which can be easily prepared by them at their homes, was generated among the beneficiaries. A Yoga session was also organized in the event wherein the State Level Yoga Champion of Haryana was present as a chief guest and the children performed Yoga poses.
A Rally was organised to spread awareness about the importance of YOGA at Sector 41 with the theme “YOG BHAGAYE ROG” in which the Sub–Divisional Magistrate of the area was the Chief Guest of the event. Medicinal plants were displayed at the event to attract the public towards a healthy life through the use of these plants in meals. A slogan writing competition was also organised at this event along with the selection of the Best Care Givers/ Brand Ambassador of POSHAN Maah.
Various activities in 450 Anganwadi Centres were also conducted such as Online sessions about YOGA; Low cost recipe demonstration; Precautions to be taken during COVID-19; Lecture on Diarrhoea Management; a mehandi competition and a poster making competition, both on the theme of importance of Poshan and nutritious diets; Awareness on POSHAN Helpline 180018002244; Lecture on oral health; Awareness on breastfeeding within one hour after birth; and Height and weight measurement drive for children. Home visits were also conducted during the day by all the 450 Anganwadi Centres in their respective areas.
