8thGISICON organized by Deptt. of Gastroenterology, PGIMER concludes successfully
Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized 8thGISICON Virtual Conclave on 31st July and 1st August 2021on behalf of Gastrointestinal Infection Society of India (GISI).
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER,who spoke about the prevalence of various gastrointestinal infections in India and the importance oftheirappropriate management. Prof. GD Puri, Dean (Academics) PGIMER, said that deliberations will go a long way in improving managementof gastrointestinal infections.
The organizing secretaries, Dr. Jimil Shah and Dr. Anupam Kumar Singh told that conference was attended by over 1000 participants and there were more than 60 research papers including oral presentation for Prof. BR Thapa memorial award. Expert faculties across the globe took lectures on H.pylori infection, C.difficile infection, abdominal tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, cholangitis and pancreatic infections.
Prof. Sahil Khanna (USA) shared his expert views on C difficile management, Prof.Necati Ormeci (Turkey) participated in management of Hepatic Hydatid disease,Prof. Vishwa M Katoch chaired session on Abdominal Tuberculosis, Prof. S KSarin moderated session on Hepatitis B management and Prof. R Dhiman shared his views on challenges in Hepatitis C eradication. Prof. Usha Dutta, chair of the conference and Head of the Department told that delegate benefited from the expertise of the speaker around the globe and shared vote of thanks to all participants and faculties.
