Haryana Police crackdown on Covid drug, oxygen black marketeers, 76 held

Chandigarh, May 19 – Haryana Police constantly stepping up action against black marketers of Covid drugs and oxygen cylinders across the state. As of today, police has arrested 76 accused engaged in blackmarketing of oxygen, oxygen cylinders and Remdesivir injections. Simultaneously, the hunt for other accused is on.

The Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, Sh. Manoj Yadava said that a total of 132 Remdesivir injections and 411 oxygen cylinders were recovered by lodging 37 FIRs across the state. Instead of making the recovered cylinders and injection a case property, these are being given to civil administration for treatment of infected patients.

Amid the ongoing crackdown on black marketers, police is actively engaged in serving the home isolated infected patients by ensuring home delivery of oxygen cylinders across the state. Demand for oxygen and covid drugs shot up following a spike in number of cases, he added.

He informed that 23 FIRs had been registered in connection with black-marketing of Remdesivir vial in 13 districts and 55 accused persons had been arrested in these cases which led to the recovery of 132 oxygen cylinders. Similarly, 21 accused have been arrested who engaged in black-marketing of oxygen and oxygen cylinders by lodging 14 FIRs against them in seven districts after the recovery of 411 oxygen cylinders.

He said that police action is being continued against such unlawful people. Helpline numbers have also been issued to prevent black marketing and hoarding of medicines and oxygen cylinders in the state. DGP Sh. Manoj Yadava expressed grief over the sad demise of E/SI Rajinder Singh, who breathed his last at PGIMS, Rohtak today after battling Covid-19. Currently he was posted at Police Station, PGIMS Rohtak. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
