Webinar on “POSHAN Abhiyaan : Sahi Poshan-Desh Roshan” organised today

POSHAN Abhiyaan endeavours to improve nutritional outcomes in a holistic manner, said Shri Anuj Chandak, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh. He said this during a webinar on POSHAN Abhiyaan: Sahi Poshan-Desh Roshan” organised today as part of POSHAN Pakhwada celebrations by Regional Outreach Bureau and Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh. Welcoming the participants, he said that POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched by Prime Minister on 8th March 2018 and it has reached a long way in ensuring wider people’s participation.

Smt. Sarita Godwani, State Consultant Poshan Abhiyaan, Chandigarh Administration explained about the various components of POSHAN Abhiyaan and emphasized that various government departments should work in synergy to achieve targets under the Abhiyaan. She also highlighted the best practices adopted by Chandigarh Administration like POSHAN on wheels programme, Anemia Mukt Chandigarh, Dedicated Helpline etc. to realise the objective under POSHAN Abhiyaan.

Dr. Manisha Arora, Senior Dietician, GMSH Sector-16, Chandigarh said that food is a basic human need and balanced diet is a prerequisite to a healthy mind and body. Informing about the importance of a balanced diet, she mentioned that it gives body the nutrients (major & minor) it needs to function correctly. She further stressed upon the importance of maintaining personal hygiene like washing hands, especially during the covid pandemic.

The session concluded with Shri Hitesh Rawat, Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh presenting a vote of thanks to all the participants. Shri Himanshu Pathak, Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh moderated the session which was also attended by Anganwadi workers and field officials of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting from Chandigarh region.
