Chandigarh.3rd February,2021:The Health Department, U.T., Chandigarh had started the vaccination for COVID-19 on 16th January, 2021 after the formal launch by the Prime Minister of India. In the initial phase, all health care workers were given the priority to get themselves voluntary vaccinated . Now in the next phase the GOI has started the vaccination drive for frontline workers which include the police personnel, Municipal Corporation Employees, Revenue officials, Paramilitary forces etc.
The vaccination drive was inaugurated at the vaccination centre Police Hospital Sector-26 by Mr. Sanjay Beniwal, DGP-U.T. Chandigarh. Inspector Rajni became the first frontline official to be vaccinated at this centre followed by the DGP, Mr. Sanjay Beniwal, who on vaccination give a motivational message to all his officers and jawans that “Darne ki jarurat nahin, aage bado, humane COVID ki jung ko jeetna hai.”.
During this vaccination drive Mr. K.S. Chahal, SSP U.T., Mr. Manoj Meena SP-HQ, Mr. Ketan Bansal SP Traffic, and Ms. Shruti Arora, IPS, Dr. Vandana Mohan, SMO (PH-26) and other officials of the police department got themselves vaccinated.
Similarly at GMSH-16 COVID Vaccination centre, Mr. K.K. Yadav, MC Commissioner led from the front in getting himself vaccinated first and setting an example for rest of the Municipal Corporation officials and residents of the city
