Chandigarh, Oct 31 – Continuing its crackdown on liquor smuggling, Haryana Police have confiscated 415 cartons of country-made liquor being smuggled in a canter from Nuh district.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that Police have intercepted a canter at a checkpoint after a secret input and seized a total of 20,750 quarter of desi liquor concealed under plastic crates of cold drink bottles.
Upon getting input about smuggling of liquor, Police immediately swung into action and laid a naka near KMP road, Dhulawat in the district. After sometime, the team signaled a canter to stop for checking and nabbed the driver and fellow man. The inspection of the vehicle led to the seizure of a huge quantity of desi liquor.
The arrested accused were identified as Bablu and Surjit. During preliminary interrogation, both revealed that confiscated liquor belongs to a resident of Alawalpur in Palwal.
A case under relevant sections of Excise Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation into this case is on.
