The independence day was celebrated in a unique way of its kind with fervour and enthusiasm in Excel and Blossom societies in Sector 48. Maintaining the norms of social distancing, the residents of the societies joined the flag hoisting ceremony from the balconies of their houses, waving National flags and chanting patriotic poems and songs. Dr. Arjun Singh Saini, Director-General Horticulture and Managing Director SFAC, Govt. Of Haryana was the chief guest at the function who unfurled the National flag. He was welcomed by Rajnish Sharma and Sanjay Kanwar, Presidents of both the societies. Rajnish sharma paid tribute to the freedom fighters who laiddown their lives for freedom and also saluted the Indian Army for their devotion to the country.
A colourful cultural programme was presented by the little kids of the societies which included dance performances and patriotic songs. Dr. Saini appreciated the performances and congratulated the organisers for organising such a wonderful function. Saini reminded the residents of the sacrifices made by our martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the green environment in our surroundings and planted a sapling in the society. The other speakers included SK Dhawan, RS Khokhar and Pushpa Chawla. Dhawan apprciated both the societies for successfully organising the event.
Sudhir Malhotra, Ganesh Chaudhary, Dinesh Chawla and Sohan Singh also attended the function.
