SARAS Aajeevika Mela focusing on the theme of ‘Tradition, Art, Craft and Culture’ will be held from 14th November to 27th November at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

SARAS Aajeevika Mela is exhibiting at 43rd India International Trade Fair 2024

SARAS Aajeevika Mela is coming up with the exhibition-cum-sale of the finest handloom and handicraft products along with the regional cuisines.

New Delhi: The famous SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2024, focusing on the theme of ‘tradition, art, craft and culture’ is one of the most prestigious government initiatives, that not just offers best of the cultural heritage, but also tells a story of rural women donning the hat of an entrepreneur at a national level platform from 14th to 27th November, 2024 during 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Bharat Mandapam, in Hall No. 9 & 10.

The finest handicraft and handloom products from the remote areas of Rural India will be at display at the SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2024, organised by the Ministry of Rural Development and supported by National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR). More than 300 craftsmen will be participating and showcasing their products through around 150 stalls in the exhibition.

A wide range of products from over 31 states will be exhibited and available for sale at the SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2024. The Mela is being organised by the Ministry of Rural Development and supported by National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) with an objective to promote “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, and also to provide an opportunity of earning to the local artisans, craftsmen and weavers from rural India who are passionately working for their livelihood and to keep their art alive.

During the Saras Ajeevika Mela, thousands of products from 31 states across the country will be exhibited and sold. This campaign has been started by the Ministry of Rural Development so that the artisans and craftsmen of our country can get a chance to start their own employment. So that the resolution of self-reliant India and the “Vocal for Local” campaign started by the Central Government can be promoted. Along with this, the Prime Minister’s dream of making rural women Lakhpati Didi can also be realized. This time the focus in Saras is on Lakhpati Didi. This is the reason, Saras has been divided into five zones according to the states of Lakhpati Didi.

The SARAS Aajeevika Mela will showcase the best of its collection in handloom sarees, dress materials, accessories and organic handicraft products from different states across India.

Each stall, each product and each of the participating rural SHG women have a story to share. SARAS will be offering the listed products at the exhibition.

Handicraft: Bamboo art and water hyacinth products from assam; madhubani paintings and sikki craft from bihar; candles, soap, wooden name plates from chhattisgarh; wooden toys, decorative items from goa and gujarat; metal art, terracotta item, artifacts from haryana; artificial flower art from north east; jewelry from karnataka; footware from maharashtra; sabai handicrafts, brass item, golden grass products and odisha; bangles from bihar; jute hand bags from west bengal.

Handloom: Silk saree, cotton saree, handloom cloth, cotton suit from Odisha, Bihar and Chhattisgarh; bedsheets from Uttar Pradesh; Kantha Stiches sarees and dress materials of West Bengal; exclusive sarees of Telangana and Kerala; woolen and pashmina shawls of Jammu & Kashmir; dress materials, woolen shawls and jackets from Utrakhand, woolen shawls from Himachal Pradesh; hand crafted jutties and mojeries, leather items of Rajasthan, leather lamp sheds, painting and wood craft of Andhra Pradesh.

Food items: Natural food items, gram-flour, rice, cashew nut, organic pulses from Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, spices and coffee from Kerala, tea leaves from Sikkim, organic vegetables and spices from Uttrakhand; medicinal herbs, rice and honey from Uttar Pradesh and mahua ladoo from Chhattisgarh etc.

The SARAS Aajeevika Mela will help in spreading our Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Vocal for local.’
