D.A.V. College Sector 10 Chandigarh organsied Akhsy Urja Diwas on 20.08.2024 with the aim of raising awareness about renewal energy among the students. The organizing committee comprised of Shri Uday Bhan Singh and Dr. Ashish Kapur as Convenors; Dr. Puspinder Singh and Dr. Kulvinder Singh as Co-convenors; and Dr. Jitender Bhalla and Dr. Akshpreet Singh as Organizing Secretary of the event. Principal Prof. Rita Jain welcomed all the guests and speakers. The Chief guest Prof. Navdeep Goyal, and guest of honour, Dr Nemi Chand addressed the audience on the theme of renewable energy. The key-note address was given by Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson Department of Environmental Sciences Panjab University, Chandigarh explaining the importance and applicability of green initiatives in the current times. Ms Neelam Sidhu explained the current scenario of renewable energy sources in India. The competitions got an overwhelming response from the students, receiving total of 116 entries in all events. Kavya Sharma, Nitika and Anvisha were declared as winner first, second and third for the debate/declamation competition respectively. Aanchal Saini, Inderjeet Singh and Prerak Tiwari were elected as first, second and third prize winners in the Essay Writing competition respectively. In quiz competition, Vadandeep Kaur and Inderjeet Singh; Rajat and Navdeep Singh; Manu and Navneet Kaur were declared winners as first, second and third. The Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. Harmunish Taneja, Dean Students Welfare at the conclusion of the events.
