Annual Cultural Extravaganza at CDOE, Panjab University

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised its annual cultural extravaganza, Hunar in its auditorium.  Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Director of CDOE, warmly welcomed the esteemed Chief Guests, Sh. Amarjit Singh, Joint Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, and Prof. Amit Chauhan, DSW at Panjab University. Prof. Gandhar highlighted the CDOE’s mission to nurture and celebrate the talents of distant learners from diverse backgrounds and regions. Prof Gandhar further added that Hunar provides a platform for distant learners to showcase their talents, fostering interaction and camaraderie among participants. Sh. Amarjit Singh, a proud university alumnus, shared inspiring anecdotes and emphasized the importance of perseverance in achieving one’s dreams. He drew parallels with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s journey to illustrate that education transcends barriers like poverty. His soulful rendition of two gazals added to the event’s ambiance.

Prof. Amit Chauhan, Guest of Honor, stressed the transformative power of feedback in students’ development, drawing parallels between event staging and real-life challenges. He emphasized the importance of respect and ethical conduct. Prof. Parveen Sharda delivered a gracious vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team led by Dr. Purva Mishra and Dr. Sucha Singh, along with the dedicated staff, coordinated the event and Dr. Kamla Sandhu conducted the stage proceedings. The event featured various student performances, including poetry recitations, dances, extemporaneous speeches, mimicry, photography, rangoli, mehndi, best out of waste creations, poster making, collage making, and cartooning. Himalayan Blue music band group also performed soulful music during the programme and spell bound the audience.
