As per the ongoing preparation of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, a training session was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Vijay N. Zade, Chief Electoral Officer, U.T., Chandigarh, along with Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, U.T., Chandigarh, and various State Nodal Officers of Central Agencies like Income Tax Department, Central and UT GST authorities, Chandigarh Police, Central Armed Forces, Banks, Postal Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, etc. for election related seizures at U.T. Guest House, Sector 06, Chandigarh.

Sh. Zade directed all the State Nodal Officers to sensitise all the officers in their teams regarding the upcoming General Election, 2024. The technical team from the Election Department, U.T. Chandigarh, gave a live demonstration on ECI’s latest app, “Election Seizure Management System,” to all the State Nodal Officers responsible for election related seizures. After the demonstration, all the queries about the app from the State Nodal Officers were answered.
Sh. Zade directed all the State Nodal Officers to submit the seizure report related to cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, freebies etc. on a daily basis. Sh. Zade also directed all the concerned State Nodal Officers to make all the necessary arrangements, including appointing Flying Squad Teams and Static Surveillance Teams after providing them with the necessary training prior to the date of poll.

Further, Sh. Zade instructed the State Nodal Officers of Bank in Chandigarh to provide training to all the officers of the bank branches for hassle-free seizure related work after the announcement of the Model Code of Conduct.

Deputy Commissioner Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh emphasised that as per the instructions of Election Commission of India, all State Nodal Officer for seizures are mandated to keep close watch on seizures in form of cash, liquor, drugs, freebies etc so that elections can be held ‘Pralobhan Mukt’ and in free and fair manner.
