Chandigarh (219/6) recovers with Karan’s half ton
Chandigarh: A timely half century from Karan Kaila helped UT boys to recover from initial loss as Chandigarh scored 219/6 runs on the opening day of the last Ranji Trophy match being played against host Karnataka at Hubli on Friday. Earlier, the home side won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. UT’s top order – Shivam Bhambri (0), Arsalan Khan (8) and captain Manan Vohra (21) failed to deliver with 37/3 on the board. Karan Kaila and Kunal Mahajan played a valuable 71-runs partnership to steer the score for 108. Kunal (34) was bowled by Hardik Raj in the 45th over. Karan was instrumental in yet another vital 46-run partnership with Ankit Kaushik for the fifth wicket. Kaushik (25) failed against the same bowler Hardik Raj and left the side at 154/5. Later, Karan was trapped LBW by Vyashak at the team score of 200. Batter scored 79 runs off 207 balls with nine boundaries to his credit. Chandigarh scored 219/6 with unbeaten batters – Mayank Sidhu (31) and Gurinder Singh (10) unbeaten before the stumps were drawn
