Rajasthan tops Group D by winning all six matches, beats Assam by eight wickets in last match

Gujarat, which finished second, defeated Himachal Pradesh by eight runs in a thrilling finish.

Chandigarh, Rajasthan topped the Group D by winning six out of six matches in the league matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy matches hosted by UTCA. In the last league match played at Mahajan Cricket Ground, Rajasthan thrashed Assam by eight wickets in a one-sided affair. Batting first, Assam was bundled out for 118 runs. In reply, unbeaten Abhijeet Tomar (55) and RB Chauhan (51) steered Rajasthan to register victory in the 24th over at the loss of two wickets.

In another match played at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Gujarat defeated Himachal Pradesh by eight runs in a thrilling finish. Gujarat won four out of six matches and secured second place in the points table. Earlier, Himachal won the toss and invited Gujarat to bat first. Batting side posted a mammoth 327 with the help of Urvil Patel (116) and a half-century by PK Panchal (96). Despite that, Arpit Guleria took eight wickets from the opposition side. In reply, Himachal fell short of eight run to wrap up at 319 runs wherein PS Chopra (96) and SL Verma (82) were the top scorers.

In the third match of the day played at GMSS School Sector 26, Uttar Pradesh outclassed Arunachal Pradesh by eight wickets. After bowled out Arunachal for 102 runs in the 40th over, Uttar Pradesh surpassed the given target with the loss of just two wickets in the 14th over, Unbeaten Aryan Juyal (58) was the top scorer.

Chandigarh also won the last league match, beating Bihar by 100 runs.

Chandigarh, Despite disappointing performance, Chandigarh consoled with the last win at the final league match against Bihar by massive 100 runs at Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament held at Ahmedabad. Chandigarh decided to bat first and despite a poor start of 78/3, the team pulled to a respectable score of 253 in the stipulated fifty overs. Opener Arslan Khan and Gaurav Puri contributed 56-56 runs each while Bhagmender Lather added 49 runs. Skipper Ashutosh Aman (4/27) took a maximum four wickets from Bihar. In reply, Bihar was bundled out for mere 153 runs in the 42nd over wherein unbeaten Ashutosh Aman (37) emerged as the top scorer.
