IMA Chandigarh state honoured and recognised the exemplary services of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and guards & fire guards who without caring for their own safety, saved many lives by evacuating adults, children and newborns ,patients on ventilators and in various serious conditions, wrapped in sheets without caring for their own safety.
It is remarkable that their untiring efforts ensured no casualty inspite of a huge fire outbreak in PGI, said Dr.Gurvinder Singh President IMA Chandigarh.
Chief guest Shri Anup Gupta, Mayor of Chandigarh distributed the awards of recognition and honoured them as ‘Saviours of Humanity’. He said that doctors are considered as next to God. They have once again proved that. Their effort is even more commendable, as it was extremely difficult to evacuate sick patients suffering from all kinds of diseases. They are no less than soldiers on the border, and I on behalf of the Citizens of Chandigarh salute them for their selfless service.
Dr.Vivek Malhotra secretary IIMA Chandigarh said that doctors nurses and paramedical staff are very close to the humanity, serving them even placing their own lives at-risk 24/7.Service above self is engrained in their hearts and minds.This was another example of their becoming a Saviour of lives and humanity, where a little delay could have caused many deaths.
MS, PGI, Dr. Vipin Kumar Koushal said that we are proud of our doctors, paramedical staff and officers & guards who put their lives at stake in saving the lives of many sick patients in extremely difficult situation.
He described how bravely did they manage a very ugly situation.
