The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies organised one-day Seminar on 27th September, 2023 under the patronage of our honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Renu Vig. The session started at 11.30 a.m. with a welcome address of Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the Department. Resource person of this session was Dr. Amreen Sekhona faculty member at the Department of Psychology, Panjab University Chandigarh explained the importance of mental Health and Hygiene with special consideration for the person with a disability to the participants. She stressed the importance of Mental Hygiene and suggested some techniques including Self-awareness, Healthy relationships, Positive coping mechanisms, and self-compassion to deal with daily life stress and sensitized the participants on the Mental Health and Mental Hygiene of a person with a disability and discussed the concepts of accessible services, support network, tailored care, inclusion of PWD as some of the techniques to ensure Mental health and Mental Hygiene of PWD. All the faculty members: Professor (Dr.) Navleen Kaur, Mr.Nitin Raj, and Taukir Alam were present.
